When is the last time you checked your kiddo’s seat?

Let’s make sure they are riding safely with these top 5 things to check regularly:

1️⃣ Within the Limits: Check that car seat manual for your seat’s stats and see how your child measures up. How are their height, weight and head height looking? Do you need to switch up that lower anchor installation (Yes, they have weight limits!) to the seat belt? (Your safety stickers have all this info!)

2️⃣ Shoulder Strap Height: For our rear-facing riders, harness straps should be at or just BELOW their shoulders. For forward-facing kids, those harness straps should be at or just ABOVE their shoulders.

3️⃣ Insert Use: In many cases, your seat’s inserts have a weight limit too. Head to your manual to check on yours. Reminder, aftermarket inserts are a big NO! If it didn’t come with your seat, DON’T use it!

4️⃣ Crotch Buckle Position: Most (not all) car seats have multiple crotch buckle positions or even lengths! Head to your manual to find out your seat’s rules. This is often the position closest to, but not under, the child (under their bottom, not their diaper). When adjusting the crotch buckle, make sure you’re moving it in the fabric cover AND the seat’s shell.

5️⃣ Installation Once Over: Give that seat a good once over. Make sure you have a tight installation, checking at the belt bath. If you’re using a seat belt installation method make sure it’s buckled! If your kiddo is forward-facing check that the top tether is in use! And, if you’re feeling extra, you can brush those crumbs out of the seat too!
