Most car seats have a flexible seatbelt-like strap for their lower anchor connectors. A few offer rigid latches instead — meaning that the lower anchor connectors are a rigid extension of the car seat frame instead of on a strap. This type of latch provides a very secure installation and can limit how much the car seat moves during a crash.
