When I was prepping for my first baby, I dove into all the research on sleep, feeding, and strollers. But when it came to choosing and using a car seat, I felt confused, overwhelmed, and unsure who to trust.
A week after my son was born, during his newborn photography session, I learned that his car seat straps weren’t positioned correctly or tight enough. My heart sank. I thought I had done everything right, but I hadn’t.
I remember thinking, this is the most dangerous thing we do with our kids, so why is it so hard to find a trusted resource to help us get it right?
That moment changed everything.
If I, a mom trying my absolute best, could feel lost, so could every other parent. So I decided to do something about it.
I became a Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) and founded Safe in the Seat in 2018 to give parents the clarity, confidence, and support I couldn’t find. I started sharing simple, judgment-free safety tips on Instagram and quickly discovered I wasn’t alone.
Thousands of parents were relieved to finally have expert help that made sense from a mom who gets it.
What started as one mom’s mission has grown into a trusted community and a ton of expert-backed resources, including a car seat finder tool, digital guides, personalized 1:1 support, a blog, and, of course, Instagram, all designed to help you feel calm and confident every time you buckle up.
Because when you know what really matters, car seat safety stops feeling complicated and starts feeling empowering.

Lainie is a Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor with extensive training in car seat safety, including U.S., U.K., and Australian certifications. She writes in-depth car seat reviews and stays on top of the latest products to help caregivers make informed choices. As a homeschooling mom to two daughters, Emalina and Karima, she’s passionate about education and safety, both at home and on the road. She’s proud to be part of a hardworking, supportive team where everyone helps each other and shares a commitment to keeping kids safe. Fun fact: In our home, we speak Egyptian Arabic, French, and English.

Sandy is a neonatal ICU nurse with a passion for ensuring the safety of critically ill babies. Since becoming a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) in 2017, she has combined her nursing skills with car seat expertise, fitting even the smallest passengers to ensure they’re safe in transit. As the mom to a child who uses a wheelchair, she’s passionate about accessibility in transit for all kids. Sandy loves working with a team that strives to empower families with the knowledge they need to make safe choices for their children. Danielle has been a CPST since her twins were 3 and she was 8 months pregnant with baby #3. Now a mom of three adults and a proud Grandmère, she’s passionate about helping caregivers at every stage—from parents to grandparents and nannies—keep kids safe in the car. She was honored as the National Child Passenger Safety Instructor of the Year and loves using her expertise to make car seat safety feel simple and doable.
