Stand Out Features of this Car Seat

Load Leg

A load leg is a metal pole that comes down from a rear-facing car seat and rests on the vehicle’s floor. Load legs reduce crash forces which offer additional protection, especially for your child’s head, neck, and spine.

Rigid Lower Anchors

Unlike flexible lower anchors on the end of a strap, these anchors are steel bars that protrude out directly from the steel frame of the car seat and attach to your vehicle’s lower anchor points. This connection style is generally considered a user-friendly install. When done correctly (which is easy to do), it creates an extremely tight connection (no movement) between the car seat and the vehicle, which is a very good thing in the land of child passenger safety.

Lock-off

If you want to install your car seat in the middle and your middle seat does not have lower anchor points, then you will need to do a seat belt installation. The base has a lock-off that makes this installation very simple as well.

Seat is good for you if

You need to fit 3 kids in one row of a vehicle.

This is a very good option for 3 across. You will likely need to do a seat belt installation if you need to fit 3 across. But the Clek Liing has a seat belt lock-off that makes getting a tight installation very simple.

You need a seat that is compact front to back.

This is one of the most compact infant seats you can find. It’s likely your best option if you have a smaller back seat and/or very tall front passengers.

You are expecting a very small baby.

If you’re expecting a possible preemie, multiples, or a baby with IUGR, the Clek Liing is a great option! The lowest harness setting is only 4″ high. And the Liing’s infant insert promotes excellent head positioning. Meaning, the Liing will fit even the tiniest of new additions perfectly from that first ride home. We love it so much that it makes our list of best preemie car seats! For parents shopping for a premium car seat to fit their small newborn, the Liing is the clear winner!

Use caution if

c-warning

You would prefer a lightweight infant seat.

While the Clek Liing is not the heaviest seat on the market, at almost 11 pounds, it’s not very light either.

c-warning

You have a vehicle that doesn’t allow the use of load legs.

There are a handful of vehicles that do not allow the use of load legs. Vans with stow-and-go seating and some trucks with underfloor storage will sometimes forbid the use of load legs. Check your vehicle owner’s manual if you think this may affect you.

Quirks to be aware of

c-question

Weight of the car seat

The Clek Liing car seat is slightly heavier in comparison to other infant seats, weighing around 10.5 pounds when the inserts are in use. It’s important to consider your individual needs and lifestyle to determine if the weight of the Clek Liing is manageable for you. While the additional weight may be a consideration for some parents, it’s important to note that the Clek Liing offers exceptional safety features and functionality that can outweigh the slight increase in weight.

Airplane Use

The Clek Liing is a recommended seat for both domestic and international travel as it is FAA-approved. When traveling within the United States and Canada, installing the seat without the base is a breeze, as the seat belts in these countries have locking mechanisms that ensure a secure fit. For international travel, it is recommended to pack the base in your luggage and utilize its seat belt lock-off or lower anchors for installation because, typically, seat belts in other countries will not lock. If you choose not to travel with the base, you will need to contact the manufacturer for a locking clip and learn how to use it before you travel.
