Stand Out Features of this Car Seat
Canopy
The Cybex Callisto G is one of the few convertible car seats with a canopy. The canopy can be used in the rear and forward-facing harness modes but not booster mode.
Anti-rebound bar
The base of the Cybex Callisto G 360 convertible car seat has an anti-rebound bar (ARB), an added safety feature that can reduce the secondary movement of the car seat, called rebound, during a crash. When a crash occurs, the car seat will move forward, towards the front of the vehicle, and rotate downward. And as we all know from high school physics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction — so after that initial movement, the car seat will rebound, or “bounce back” towards the backrest of the vehicle seat. The ARB minimizes this bounce-back effect, helping limit the car seat movement and your child inside it! ARBs may also limit the side-to-side rotation of the car seat in a side-impact collision. Overall, they’re a great feature to have on a rear-facing car seat!
Seat is good for you if
You want a swivel car seat.
The Cybex Callisto swivels 360 degrees. If you have it installed with the seat belt and top tether, you can easily switch between the rear-facing and forward-facing harness modes. It's not as easy to switch from harness to booster mode or vice versa while the seat is installed. But it is possible, as I did it one day when I had it installed with the lower anchors and top tether. I was able to change it from booster mode to rear-facing mode while holding a baby. It would be faster with two hands!
You want a seat that is easy to install.
Cybex's SafeLock system makes this seat easy to install whether you choose to use the seat belt or the lower anchor installation. Don't forget to use the top tether as well!
You have a tall child.
Although our 10-year-old cannot ride in the harness mode due to being over the standing height limit, she did fit in it. The harness was coming from right at her shoulders, and all of the harness length was used up. Based on this, we think that most kids would fit in the harness mode until they reached the 65 pounds OR 49" limits. She does fit in the high back booster mode with comfort room to spare as well. Our model is on the smaller side at 53" and 55 pounds.
Use caution if
You need to fit 3 across.
This seat is 19.5″ wide. It’s not going to fit well in most three across configurations. If you did manage to fit it, you definitely would not be able to utilize the swivel function. If you need to fit three across, you can find some better options here.
You have a compact car.
We did not have an issue fitting this seat in rear-facing mode in the Toyota Corolla it was used in. It's compact enough in that regard. We used it at full-recline for our 5-month-old model. The problem we had was with the booster mode. When the headrest was in the highest position, the child's head was about 1" from the ceiling. In addition, we had to forgo using the lower anchors so that we could move it away from the door to even lift the adjustable headrest to the highest position.
Quirks to be aware of
Child Fit Information
Our 5-month-old model is 16 pounds and 24 inches tall. It was easy to get a good fit for her, and she enjoyed chewing on the harness adjuster strap as pictured. She appeared to be very comfortable!
Installation Information
Airplane Use
The Cybex Callisto G 360 is FAA approved in the rear and forward-facing harness modes. However, this seat is extremely heavy at 35 pounds, so we would not recommend taking it onboard an aircraft. There are so many easier options.

SITS Bottom Line
The Cybex Callisto G 360 is packed with convenience and safety features, including a unique canopy, 360-degree swivel function, and the SensorSafe chest clip. However, its weight and width can make it less practical for some situations, like three-across setups or air travel.
