Anti-rebound Bar
There is an anti-rebound bar built into the base. This is an added safety feature that can reduce the secondary movement of the car seat, called rebound, during a crash. When a crash occurs, the car seat will move forward, towards the front of the vehicle, and rotate downward. And as we all know from high school physics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction — so after that initial movement, the car seat will rebound, or “bounce back” towards the backrest of the vehicle seat. The ARB minimizes this bounce-back effect, helping limit the car seat movement and your child inside it! ARBs may also limit the side-to-side rotation of the car seat in a side-impact collision. Overall, they’re a great feature to have on a rear-facing car seat!

Seat is good for you if
You are expecting/have a small baby or preemie.
This car seat is an excellent option if you’re expecting a small newborn or bringing home a preemie. A newborn in the Evenflo NurtureMax car seat will fit no matter how big or small! The lowest harness height is about 5″, so the shoulder straps are sure to fit in the proper position on the tiniest of babies.
You need to fit 3 car seats across in the back seat.
This seat is only 17.4" wide, so it may work in some 3 across configurations.
You want extra safety features.
This is the least expensive infant seat on the market, but it even comes with an anti-rebound bar!
Use caution if
You have a small back seat.
This won’t be the best choice for small backseats or for tall front-seat passengers. When installed on an outboard seat, there must be at least 1.5″ between the infant seat and the vehicle seat in front of it.
Quirks to be aware of
1.5″ rule
When installed on an outboard seat, the Evenflo NurtureMax requires at least 1.5″ between the infant seat and the seat in front of it. If this is a problem in your vehicle, try installing it in the center seating position.
No stroller compatibility
There are no strollers that are officially compatible with this seat. However, you may have some luck with a stroller that has a universal adapter like the Mountain Buggy Nano.
Child Fit Information
We were able to try a 2-month-old in this seat. She was 10.5 pounds and 23" tall. She had a great fit and fell asleep while we took pictures of her, so it must be comfy!

Installation Information
Airplane Use
The Evenflo Nurturemax is an aircraft-approved car seat. This is a good option for travel. If traveling internationally, you will need a locking clip. Contact the car seat manufacturer for a free locking clip. We have a video here of how to use a locking clip. The Evenflo NurtureMax is an excellent option for newborns of any size, including preemies! It’s the least expensive infant seat available, but it has some of the same features you would expect to find on higher-end seats, like an anti-rebound bar.
