Stand Out Features of this Car Seat
Inner carrier
The infant seat has an additional inner shell that can be removed. This portion is very lightweight and can be used with the crossbody strap. This makes for a light option to carry the baby inside for a quick trip. This piece cannot be installed in the vehicle by itself. It can be used on the Maxi Cosi strollers if you buy an adapter made just for this seat.
Seat is good for you if
You need to fit 3 across.
The Maxi Cosi Coral XP infant car seat is only 17.5″ wide, and it has a seat belt lock-off, which makes it a good choice in a 3 across configuration. The lock-off helps you get a tight, secure installation, even if you need to move the base closer to the door to fit another seat beside it.
You want a car seat that’s easy to install.
Whether you choose to install this seat with the lower anchors or the seat belt, you will find it very quick and easy to get a tight installation.
Use caution if
You have a small back seat.
The Maxi Cosi Coral XP infant car seat is one of the larger infant seats, so it's not a good option for caregivers who have small backseats or are very tall.
You are expecting a baby that is smaller than average.
Even with the 7.5 pound newborn we tried the harness just passed the pinch test when it was tightened as much as possible. A smaller baby is not going to fit properly for this reason.

Airplane Use
Like most infant car seats, the Maxi Cosi Coral XP does have aircraft approval. If traveling internationally without the base, you will need a locking clip. Contact the car seat manufacturer to get one for free. If you travel with the base, it does have a seat belt lock-off, so you can avoid dealing with a locking clip. SITS Bottom Line
The Maxi Cosi Coral XP infant car seat offers innovative features like a removable inner shell with a crossbody strap, making it a lightweight and convenient option for quick trips. At 17.5 inches wide, it works well in 3-across configurations, but its larger size may not be ideal for small back seats or tall caregivers. While the seat accommodates average-sized newborns well, it will not fit smaller babies properly.
